VinFast shines at CES 2024 with pickup truck, mini SUV & bike

The world's biggest Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2024), focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and electric vehicles this year. VinFast, known as the “Tesla of Vietnam”, introduced three vehicles, including electric SUV, pickup truck, and electric bike.

Designed for urban driving, overall dimensions only L3,190xW1,679xH1,621mm, expected to have a driving range of 200 kilometers per full charge. The car features a 10-inch screen, the expansion cargo space of up to 550 liters with the full folding of second row. Vinfast announced that it will start accepting orders from the third quarter of 2024 in Vietnam and also go on sale in the US this year. Although specific pricing and delivery dates have yet to be confirmed, VF 3 has received positive comments from professional automotive media, such as Autoevolution, an American automotive media website, even stated that it can be compared with the Jimny of Suzuki.

Mid-size Electric Pickup - VF Wild

This is VinFast's first venture into the pickup segment, developed in collaboration with GoMotiv, an Australian design company, with more than 8,000 hours of research and development. VF Wild is currently a concept vehicle, and details regarding the battery and powertrain specifications have not been disclosed, the estimated driving range is at least 402 kilometers. VinFast has expressed an aim to promote the VF Wild as an economic car of Vietnam and is considered to be competitive in the U.S. market, as it caters to the American preference for pickup trucks.

Besides electric vehicles, VinFast has launched an eye-catching electric bicycle, in the U.S. market, named DrgnFly, with prices expected to begin at USD 2,800, and a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty. The DrgnFly features a 750W engine integrated, reaching a top speed of 45 km/h, and a driving range of up to 102 kilometers per charge. It is expected to be launched in the global market in the future.

VinFast is actively promoting an electric vehicle ecosystem. It has announced the construction plan in Indonesia in September 2023, and an investment plan of USD 2 billion to enter the Indian market this year, with the establishment of a battery plant in the Tamil Nadu state. On Jan. 6, Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong, founder and chairman of Vingroup JSC – VinFast parent company, assumed the position of VinFast CEO, succeeding the former CEO Le Thi Thu Thuy, and will directly oversee the operations of VinFast, including global production, sales, and marketing.

The board of directors stated that its leadership changing as it enters the next phase of its development, and Mr. Pham is considered the best candidate for this role, based on his deep understanding of VinFast's founding and development journey.
