Several Taiwanese companies exhibited their innovative green energy and smart mobility products at the ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week from July 3 to 5, capturing business opportunities in Southeast Asia's energy transition.

Digisine displayed small wind turbines that can be installed with rooftop solar systems. Tron Energy showcased power solutions for electric buses, and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) brought various renewable energy and water treatment products from Taiwan.

Small wind turbines boost nighttime power supply for solar systems

Digisine, which has a branch in Bangkok, made its debut at the event and highlighted their self-generation and energy storage equipment, presenting small wind turbines and converters that offer a smart, distributed independent power generation system that complements solar energy.

These small wind turbines do not require an environmental assessment for installation and can be set up in almost any location with existing solar panels, providing complementary power supply at nighttime, said Wu Zhi-xian (吳志賢), chairman of Digisine.

Wu mentioned that this wind-solar hybrid system can automatically adjust generation and storage levels based on weather conditions and electricity demands, providing stable and clean electricity. It is suitable for lighting, security surveillance, and communication equipment in remote areas.

Southeast Asian countries are increasingly recognizing the importance of "green roofs," using building rooftops to produce wind and solar energy, which attracted many residential construction planners at the event, he added.

Electric buses, customized energy storage systems capture Southeast Asian market

Taiwanese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Tron Energy showcased their electric buses and energy storage systems. With their battery systems and specialization strategies, Tron Energy has successfully entered the Southeast Asian markets, selling electric buses equipped with its battery technology to Thailand, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, while launching customized energy storage systems.

For the booming Thai market, Tron Energy has partnered with a local listed company to provide chassis and powertrain solutions for electric buses and electric tuk-tuks, including motors, controllers, and battery packs, while actively expanding their battery storage system business, said Chiu Wei-chen (丘為臣), deputy general manager of Tron Energy.

Tron Energy is also engaged in electric bus, self-driving car, and smart mobility projects in Singapore, and has partnered with the National University of Singapore (NUS) to establish an autonomous driving technology R&D center, which delivered a 12-meter, three-door electric bus this year.

Chiu noted that many visitors to their booth were interested in energy storage systems. As Thailand's power market includes many private power companies, Tron Energy's strength lies in its ability to customize energy storage systems.

Taiwan has an advantage in the IT sector. Tron Energy develops its control systems in-house, providing customized services such as different operating voltages, he added.

Solar products, eco-friendly building materials take center stage

TAITRA displayed various renewable energy and water treatment products from Taiwanese companies such as Wisemetal, Flex Wiper, and Yuen-Chi.

Solar products and eco-friendly building materials receiving the most inquiries, with Wisemetal's screw sets, suitable for EV and solar panel manufacturing, particularly favored by buyers from India and Singapore.

The products exhibited at the event included solar crimping tools, solar coating materials, photovoltaic components, as well as unmanned vehicles, EVs, electric trailers, and EV wipers, said Yang Yi-xuan (楊苡瑄), specialist at TAITRA's digital commerce department.

She mentioned that Taiwan-made products are an important part of Thailand's supply chain, and this exhibition is expected to foster more cooperation opportunities between Taiwan and Thailand.
