Charoen Pokphand Foods（CPF）has introduced 23 types of fresh egg products that have been certified with the “Global Warming Reduction Label," the first eggs to receive such a label in Thailand.
The low-carbon eggs, which include free-range eggs, demonstrate its dedication to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and offer consumers of environmentally friendly and low-carbon eggs, CPF says.
The certification from Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization recognizes the company's efforts to reduce carbon emissions across its value chain.
Somkid Wannalukkhee, head of the company's layer business, says that CP Foods reduces emissions by optimizing feed, improving energy efficiency, utilizing renewable energy, and using recycled materials in egg packaging, among other methods.
Last year, egg production in the company had already decreased greenhouse gas emissions by 617,000 tons of CO2e.
Additionally, several of its layer complexes generate electricity from biogas produced from poultry litter. By the end of this year, one of the facilities will be powered by 100% renewable energy.
So far, more than 800 of the company’s food products, including fresh pork, chicken, shrimp, and animal feed, have been awarded Carbon Footprint Label and 50 of its products are given the ‘Global Warming Reduction’ label from Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization, according to CPF.
