To boost the integration of renewable energy into the grid, More Power in the Philippines has been authorized to establish a one-stop service center in Iloilo City, located in the central region of the country.
This initiative will streamline the application process for net metering and distributed energy resources (DER) programs, making it easier for users to participate and directly offset their electricity bills.
More Power collaborates with regulatory authorities
Once the service center is operational, the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) of the Philippines will send representatives to the center each month to provide technical and regulatory advice. They will assist on-site with everything from document submission to permit applications.
Additionally, applications from two electricity companies partnered with More Power—Negros Electric and Power and Bohol Light Company—will also be processed.

100kW as a threshold to differentiate application processes
Net metering allows consumers with renewable energy generation systems to offset their electricity bills based on the amount of power they send to the grid. Distributed Energy Resources (DER) refers to small-scale power generation and storage systems, such as electric vehicles and solar panels, that provide electricity locally. Unlike traditional large power plants, net metering and DER are suited to smaller-scale power generation systems with shorter transmission distances.
According to agreement, net metering is available for businesses and individual consumers with solar installations of up to 100kW capacity, while DER program eligibility is for businesses with systems exceeding 100kW. The green electricity generated by DER can be used to offset electricity consumption, thereby reducing power costs for households and small businesses.
The collaboration between More Power and the Energy Regulatory Commission is not the first of its kind. In August of last year, both parties, in cooperation with the Iloilo City government, signed an agreement to issue Certificates of Compliance to 33 qualified net metering customers through a similar one-stop service center approach. The total installed capacity for these projects has reached 4,336kW, with a cumulative total power generation of 172,997 kWh by October this year.
