Vietnamese electric vehicle giant VinFast is optimistic about the growth potential in the Philippine market. In late February, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Motech, an automotive service center, aiming to help Motech’s 63 service centers in the country achieve professional certification to provide after-sales services for VinFast electric vehicles and strengthen its customer base.
VinFast expands in the Philippines by partnering for after-sales services
VinFast stated that due to the increasing demand for electric vehicles among Filipino consumers, the importance of after-sales services such as vehicle maintenance, warranties, and repairs has grown. To support Motech, VinFast will provide training and technical advice to ensure the company prioritizes professional services and genuine parts for VinFast owners.
Additionally, both companies have committed to exploring further cooperation in Southeast Asia, including after-sales services, information sharing, and joint marketing activities to promote low-carbon green transportation. This partnership is part of VinFast's broader plan to establish over 100 service centers in the Philippines, providing comprehensive service networks for local vehicle owners.
Motech's CEO, Johann Rommel Naguiat, highlighted that this collaboration with VinFast marks a first in the industry and will help the Philippine market embrace the green transportation revolution, not only addressing range anxiety but also alleviating concerns about after-sales services.

VinFast develops a comprehensive EV ecosystem
In 2024, VinFast entered the Philippine market, announcing the launch of a full range of electric vehicles, electric motorcycles, and e-bikes. The company sees significant growth potential in the local market's vehicle electrification and has already introduced its high-priced VF7 electric vehicle model.
VinFast Philippines’ CEO Cao Ngoc Nguyen Duy mentioned that the Philippines is the first country to sell VF7 outside Vietnam, underscoring the company’s strong focus on the Philippine market.
Besides offering diverse vehicle models, VinFast is also building a more complete electric vehicle ecosystem through V-GREEN, a charging station developer under the Vin Group. Earlier this year, V-GREEN signed an MOU with Taiwan’s eTreego to deploy 100,000 charging stations across Southeast Asia, including the Philippines.
VinFast is also bringing its unique EV battery subscription model to the Philippines, helping to lower the initial purchase cost and address concerns about battery lifespan and potential repair or replacement costs, allowing consumers to transition from gasoline cars to electric vehicles with confidence.
The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (Campi) estimates that electric vehicle sales in the country will grow by 7%, reaching 20,000 units annually for the first time.
Campi President Rommel Gutierrez stated that this increase is driven by rising consumer acceptance, policy support, and expanded charging infrastructure. Hybrid vehicles are currently the best-selling models, and major manufacturers like Tesla and BYD are expected to launch new models this year to meet consumer demand.
